Ramsbottom Rascals Learn to Swim

Swim awards for time trials, February 2010

Ramsbottom swimming club have adopted the ASAs Wave Power child protection policy and procedure. The following link takes you through to the ASAs web page for safe guarding swimmers.
www.swimming.org/parents/child-safeguarding-in-clubs/

Ramsbottom swimming club learn to swim group follows the amateur swimming association’s  national plan for teaching swimming (NPTS). The national plan takes swimmers  through the various stages of development from non swimmer to competition level in a friendly atmosphere (listed below).
Assessments are performed on a regular basis with the timing dependant upon the progress of the group.  The dates for assessments are announced via the club website.

Children of any ability can join the club from the age of 5 after an assessment by one of our teaching staff.  Following the assessment your child will be invited take part in one of our Sunday afternoon or Thursday evening learn to swim sessions, times can be found on the swimming lesson plan.
Intake for non swimmers is at the discretion of the teacher who may have fixed months for intakes.  For children who can swim at least one width, float on their back and front and put their head under water intake is more flexible depending on the class numbers at the time.

For  further information about joining the club please contact Fran Hall: 01706 827527.
All swimmers aged 10 and under are encouraged to take part in the Shrimps Gala (see the calendar for this year's dates.)  This event introduces our younger members to competition in a friendly and supportive atmosphere.  All races are over 25 metres with swimmers allowed to start in the water or dive in (it’s up to the them.)

Swimmers who can confidently swim 25m are actively encouraged to take part in the club championships (see the calendar for this year's dates.) It is an ideal opportunity to set new personal best times and prepare for outside competitions.
