Joining the Ramsbottom Rascals

New members to the Ramsbottom Rascals Amateur Swimming Club (RASC), based in North Manchester, are welcomed. Most of the swimming sessions are based at the Ramsbottom pool and Fitness Centre on Porritt Lane in Ramsbottom. A couple of sessions are based at Heywood pool. See the swimming lesson plan.

Children can join from the year they turn 5. They start in the learn to swim group and are progressed through to the other levels. We consider children for trial who can swim a width, float on their back and front and put their head under water. The club has a great support system for the younger members with the opportunity to take part in two galas that are Ramsbottom club only. The Shrimps Gala that takes place in late spring is only for club members 10 years and under. The main Ramsbottom swimming club gala takes place in the autumn and is for all club members. (see the calendar for this year's dates). These are usually held at Radcliffe pool.

Many members join later after they have had lessons elsewhere and they will be invited for an initial assessment to find out which training group will suit their needs.

Many very successful swimmers such as Lewis Coleman were part of RASC.

Children are eligible to join the main swimming team from the year they turn 10.

Over sixteens are welcome too but need to be able to swim well, beginners are not taken at this level.

All club members have to join the Amateur Swimming Association. Follow this link to see the fees for this year.
